SUMMARY, EXPLANATION AND LIMITATIONS:
This polyclonal antibody identify the myeloperoxidase protein (MPO). This enzyme is part of the defense system of polymorphonuclear leucocytes (PMN). It is the responsible of the microbicide response against a broad spectrum of organisms.
Immunogen: Purified human granulocytic myeloperoxidase.
Staining pattern: Cytoplasmic.
Positive control: Tissue sample from tonsil, spleen or bone marrow.
This antibody is designed for the specific localization of human myeloperoxidase using IHC techniques in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
This antibody manifests a high cytoplasmic reactivity for MPO in normal tissues and myeloproliferatives disorders, in myeloid cells (neutrophils and eosinophils) during all maturing stages. It is detected in myeloblasts and immature myeloid cells of acute myeloid leukemia, progranulocytic and mono-myelocytic leukemia, eritrolukemia, and others hematopoietic pathologies. It does not express MPO erythroid precursors, megakaryocytes lymphoid cells, mastocytes and plasma cells. Monocyte line cells present a light positivity or expression absence. Lymphoblastic lymphoma and leukemia, chronic lymphoblastic leukemia, hairy cell leukemia, T or B lymphoma and Hodgkin lymphoma. MPO is not observed in a variety of sarcomas or carcinoma. This antibody is useful for the differencial diagnose of myeloid and lymphoid leukemia.
